In the past, when Michizane had been headed to Kyushyu, he unexpectedly called at Hibi Port and visited this temple to pray for safety.
This has made it possible to run a gauntlet of Hibiki-Nada in a sea route for Kyushyu.
Due to origins, it is dedicated to both the Goddess of Mercy and Tenjin (Michizane himself).
